How Literature shaped me

I believe that by studying literature I find that self – discovery is a common theme because literature gives so many options to say the same thing As compared to life where we have limited option for anything. Like ‘Do or Die’ and in between these we stuck somewhere and through the life we find the way to come out from that. Here, I would like to put two texts as reference of this. How it gives so many options of one thing that when I studied ‘Waiting For Godot’ and ‘Sense Of An Ending.’ I find how both writer works on the same idea about philosophical suicide but somewhere in a way they are different from each other that one is believed that “There is only one philosophical problem and that is suicide” where Julian Barnes believes in that “life is a gift bestowed without anyone asking for it and if the person decides to renounce the gift that no one ask for it is moral and human duty to act on that” so in a way it gives so many choices that one can go for it and makes the right decision for life.

              So, for me literature provides a place for all people to find mirrors in life or we can say that Literature has helped in coping with most of problems more than shaping our life. According to me though we know all things that literature taught us but the question is that is it helps us when it is needed? No, because as per my understanding these all things are good when we read that but it fails when we apply that in our real life.

             Literature sets me free from responsibilities of this world and at the same time it also ties me with the same responsibilities. Though we have so many genres to study literature but the intension is not same all the time because some literature we read for an escape, some to understand the meaning of life or sometimes we read to give lead to our imagination world. But behind these all what matters is that literature reminds me that life isn’t cup of tea for everyone. Five years ago I was not able to write a single sentence that what is literature and how literature helps me to mould my personality and now to study literature is one that I will be satisfied with it.
